Nelson was born in 1755 to a rich family. As Nelson grew older he decided to join the navy, through influence of his uncle Maurice Suckling. His position rapidly rose and he served with the leading commanders. Soon Nelson himself became a commander in 1778.In 1783 Nelson visited France. Their he met a widow called Francis (Fanny) Nesbit.

Nelson in his life went through several battles during the Napoleonic Wars. The wars were Battle of Cape St Vincent, Battle of the Nile, Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, The battle of Copenhagen and the battle of Trafalgar which he was killed in.

John Scott, Nelson's secretary, who was next to Nelson at that time, got hit by cannon ball and he almost got cut in two. Nelson and Hardy continued shooting the sniper's from above. Shortly after one 'o'clock Hardy noticed that Nelson wasn't next to him. He looked over his shoulder and saw nelson kneeling. Then nelson looked up and smiled. "Hardy, I do believe they done at last, m y backbone is shot through"

He had been hit by a marksman fifty feet away. The bullet hit his shoulder pierced his lungs and stopped at his backbone. Nelson was carried away by some soldiers and they took him to a surgeon.

Nelson requested several times to see Hardy who was on deck supervising the war. Nelson told Hardy to give all of his possessions to his daughter, Emma. After that he said "Kiss me Hardy." Hardy bent down and kissed him on the cheek twice.

"God bless you Hardy" said Nelson.

By now very weak Nelson started muttering some words. Hardy heard him say "God I have done my duty." Nelsons last words were "God and my country.

Nelson was a very high rank in his career which was called Vice Admiral of the White.

What people find interesting when Nelson was dying in his last breath he said "Kiss me Hardy." Hardy was Nelson's best friend who was with him at that time. Most people think Nelson was gay but that is not true because he was dying and he needed a friend to hug.
