He didn't have a twin. He had an elder half-brother Sydney, to whom he was closely attached all his life.

Unknown to him, he also had a younger half-brother, Wheeler Dryden, who was working in India when the Chaplin films started to appear. Wheeler realised that this filmstar was his brother, and wrote to him at the studio, but his letter was binned, along with heaps of crank-mail.

He tried again, this time writing to Chaplin's colleague and close friend Edna Purviance. Edna had a feeling that he was genuine and got Charlie to investigate. Charlie was very interested when he found out about Wheeler, and gave him a job in the studio.
