Joseph B. De Lee (1869‑1942), the son of Polish immigrants, was one of the principal founders of obstetrics in the U.S. A Northwestern University/University of Chicago researcher and practitioner who established his first clinic in the midst of Chicago's poorest populations, De Lee became an innovator in medical education, film making, hospital architecture, and inventions.
