EL CID CAMPEADOR is Rodrigo diaz de vivar, made famous through the anonymous work 'poema de mio cid' which recounts his military campaigns in exile. Rodrigo was a stauch supporter of King Sancho, who fought against his brother Alfonso for control of Spain. When Sancho fell, Rodrigo joined Alfonso's court, though he was soon exiled due to the manoeverings of Garcia Ordonez. In order to regain the honour lost when he was exiled, the Cid began a military campaign to rid Spain of the moors. he fought and won many battles, the most prominent of which was the conquest of valencia. in order to appease alfonso, he sent him many gifts from the spoils he won in his triumphs. as Spain was characterised by a gift economy at this time, alfonso was obliged to reciprocate, and eventually recalled the cid from exile. however the cid's fame was so great by this time that alfonso in fact benefitted from this rapprochement.

later the cid was exiled again and fought for the moors. he died in 1099

What is the poem of el cid compeador?

i do not if this help but her a response Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (c. 1040, Vivar, near Burgos, Spain -- July 10, 1099, Valencia), known as El Cid Campeador, was a Castilian nobleman, a military leader and diplomat who, after being exiled, conquered and governed the city of Valencia. Rodrigo Díaz was educated in the royal court of Castile and became the alférez, or chief general, of Alfonso VI, and his most valuable asset in the fight against the Moors. The name "El Cid" comes from the Spanish article El, and the dialectal Arabic word سيد sîdi or sayyid, which means "Lord". The title Campeador comes from campidoctor, a medieval Latin word roughly meaning "master of military arts", so El Cid Campeador translates as "The lord, master of military arts". He is considered the national hero of Spain.
