Actually, Scooby Doo was invented by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera. The men were writers for H-B at the time (1969). They went on to form their own production company in 1977 called Ruby-Spears and made some Scooby Doo Cartoons too (with permission from H-B). Other shows made by Ruby-Spears include Mr. T, Centurions, Plastic Man and Fangface.
