The scores are a big part of a lot of tributes strategy. They can get a small score on purpose so the other tributes will know that they can leave them alone because they will most likely not survive anyways. Or you can get a really good score and the other tributes will either target you or be afraid of you. Peeta receives an 8 I believe and Katniss gets an 11 because the game makers are targeting her because she shot an arrow at an apple in a pigs mouth they were eating because they weren't watching her.
