Gates McFadden was fired from the Series because of disagreement between McFadden and Co-Exec Producer Maurice Hurley, he personally did not like Mcfadden and persuades Gene Roddenberry to have her replaced. Hurley left the show at the end of Season 2, and Mcfadden was brought back in.
