Rick Riordan's stories have a heavy theme of those that are different in some way finding friendship and acceptance, and those around them taking those differences as something special. He confronts many differences, kids with ADHD, kids who look different, kids with dyslexia, kids who are orphans, kids with good and bad parental relationships... Adding in a gay character was just a natural step in the storyline. I honestly never thought of Nico as a gay character before he came out, but that is a lot like real life. People will sometimes surprise you.
Yes - the books make this quite clear.
Yes, the prophecies in Riordan's books are fictional, and used to help create a storyline.
it would make sense considering he is hailing from the wayward hades. Left handedness is creative and unusual like the very nico himself
In 'The Lost Hero', the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series (or the next Camp Half Blood series), Nico does not make an appearance. However Annabeth does mention that he shows up at Camp Half Blood occasionally. It is yet to be revealed if Nico di Angelo will appear in the next book, 'The Son of Neptune'.
Rick Riordian books have so much action in them you can almost feel as if you are there like you can be in Percy's shoes when he receives The First Great Prophecy
No, Nico di Angelo does not appear in "The Lost Hero." He is a major character in Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" and "Heroes of Olympus" series, but he does not make an appearance in "The Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero."
Rick Riordan only wrote the first 39 Clues book.

Rick Riordan started with the Greek Mythology because his son had ADHD and Dyslexia. His son was upset, so Riordan began telling him stories about Percy and Greek mythology relating to his disorders to make him feel better. His son encouraged him to write the stories and share them.
