Kryptonians can only convert the energy of the sunlight from the smaller wave lengths of light. If General Zod had come from a planet with a purple sun, the movie Superman would have been much different.
Kryptonians have NO powers under a red sun - they're ordinary human beings.
Superman's powers vary significantly under different colored suns. Under a yellow sun, like Earth's, he gains superhuman abilities such as flight, super strength, heat vision, and invulnerability. A red sun, however, strips him of his powers, rendering him human and vulnerable. Under a blue sun, Superman's powers are greatly amplified, enhancing his abilities to superhuman levels beyond those granted by a yellow sun.
.... Everyone should know that Superman gets his powers from the yellow sun.. The red sun of Krypton does not give him the special powers he has on Earth..
Yes he is mortal
Indirectly, though he is powerless and even vulnerable in Red-Sun worlds such as his now-extinct Krypton. He has no reason to recharge his batteries so to speak, but on some occasions does welcome an energizing sunburst in the weather. The Hanna-Barbera superhero Birdman, however directly derived his powers from the Sun and bad guys knew this, and tried to use shadow-rays ( a contradiction in terms, unless they used Ultra-Violet strobe lights.)

A yellow sun. Krypton had a red sun, which makes Kryptonians ordinary.

Superman's strength comes from earth's yellow sun. See, on Krypton, the red sun, and rock that the planet was made of (kryptonite) would sedate the kryptonians strength. Since the planet was destroyed and Superman came to earth, the lack of red sun and kryptonite empowered him.

First of all, they don't breathe in space. Even Superman does not breathe in space. There is nothing to breathe in space. The writers are in fact rather inconsistent when it comes to deciding whether superman needs a spacesuit in space, though he has never needed one in the movies. Obviously if Superman can't breathe in space, then Kryptonians without his powers (living under a red sun) can't either. It is, however, sometimes posited that after superman was killed by Doomsday and came back, he can hold his breath indefinitely and does not need to breathe. If this is the case, then I would assume ordinary Kryptonians would die in space just like any human. Sometimes, it is suggested that the reason Superman can survive in space is that Mongul taught him various breathing exercises while training him, so he can last in space for a VERY long time. Some people also think that Mongul taught him that he did not need to breathe in space as long as he was exposed to enough yellow sun radiation, which would make the answer to your question an obvious no when asking about Kryptonians with no yellow sun exposure. So, I guess the answer to your question is no whatever way you look at it. Nevertheless, all it takes is another writer to come along and change that to have me eating these words.
Yes he is mortal
None, because their planet had a red sun.
