In Ray Bradbury's short story "The Pedestrian," Leonard Mead keeps all his lights on to signify his defiance against a society that has become overly reliant on technology and screens. His illuminated home contrasts with the dark, lifeless houses of his neighbors, who are engrossed in watching television. Mead's choice to keep his lights on symbolizes his desire for connection, creativity, and the appreciation of the outside world, which starkly contrasts with the isolation of those around him.

Leonard Peltier is an Indian Activist and co founder of the American Indian Movement. He was called onto the Pine Ridge Reservation in the early 1980's by the elders of the tribe. There had been many murders of traditional native people by government backed Guardians of the Oglala Nations ( Goons) which went without investigation and the elders wanted Leonard's protection. Leonard was framed for the murder of two FBI agents and remains in prison despite all the evidence of his innocence.

People have said that he was a bad man who thought the show was all about him. He had a big ego. Most of the castmembers don`t like him. Execpt of course for Leonard Nimoy and the late Deforest Kelly. I never cared for him, but he does have a "warp sense of humor." As Leonard nimoy would say.
In Ray Bradbury's short story "The Pedestrian," the protagonist, Leonard Mead, keeps all his lights on to symbolize his rejection of the oppressive, dystopian society that confines people to their homes, glued to their screens. The bright lights represent his vitality, individuality, and desire for human connection, contrasting sharply with the dark, lifeless houses around him. His illuminated home stands as a beacon of hope and defiance in a world where most people have succumbed to apathy and isolation.
In the story "The Pedestrian," Leonard Mead had never encountered another person out for a walk like him. The streets were completely empty, with only the glow of television screens visible through windows. This lack of human presence made Mead feel isolated and out of place in his society.
