It is not clear why it takes so long to save the game in Pokemon Platinum. Some think it could be due to the save file being really large. It could be that the maker's of Pokemon didn't know how to make the save system more efficient at the time. In the most recent versions of Pokemon this saving problem has been solved and games save much quicker.

Sorry there is no action replay. If you completed the Sinnoh PokeDexand received the National PokeDex, Professor Rowan or Oak should have announced that Route 221 is unlocked. Go inside PalPark by the Counter Desk and save. Next (You can only do this if you have platnium) put in your Pokemon Platnium game. Migrate your Pokemon from Pearl or Diamond in Platnium. Then transfer some of your Platnium Pokemon to Pearl's or diamond's in PalPark. Put in your Diamond or Pearl game again and enter a Catching Show in PalPark. It takes a huge amount of time to find Shaymin but hope this improved the answer above. :)

Unlike past Pokemon games, you have to delete you existing save file before you can save a new game. You can do that by holding Up+Select+B on the title screen (where it says Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl) Deleting the save takes a minute or two
