Why does society hate us bronies so much?

There are a few reasons. Many people hate bronies because they are going against the generally accepted gender roles that society creates; they are young men who like something that is generally viewed as feminine. Many people, especially those who are homophobic, associate this sort of thing with homosexuality. Some people have also had bad experiance with worst behavior seen among some bronies such clopping, endlessly talking about ponies, and general immature behavior. This leads some to think all bronies are like that. For many brony haters it is a combination of these things.

Not everyone hates bronies, though there certainly is a lot of hate out there. Since the show is originally directed at girls, some considered watching it to be effeminate, and thus believe any boy or man who enjoys the show must be gay. So, homophobia is part of it. Some hate bronies simply because young men watching a show created for girls goes against widely accepted social norms. Some also think that bronies are sexually attracted to the ponies, and so believe them all to be weird perverts. This is reinforced by the fact that some bronies do like the show, at least partially, for sexual reasons. But such subgroups exist in just about every fanbase. A smaller group have come to the bizarre conclusion that, since MLP is directed at children, the bronies must be pedophiles.

At the other side, some people have had legitimate bad experiences with bronies. Despite what some claim, some bronies do exhibit bad behavior. People who don't like MLP can become upset when websites are flooded with pony-related content. Some bronies will excessively push the show on other people or talk about it nonstop. Some bronies do not know how to properly respond to disagreement or criticism and can act in very immature and downright nasty ways. Bad behavior among bronies, as it does with any group, can give a bad first impression and lead to generalizations. People who don't like bronies can turn to such bad behavior as a form of confirmation bias.
