Why doesn't my Pokemon silver save the game even AFTER i saved it?

The battery is probably dead.
Here are some steps to replace the battery:
WARNING!! make sure your game will not save AT ALL. Once you remove the battery, ALL SAVED DATA DISAPPEARS FOREVER!
1) Use pliers or tweezers to unscrew cartridge.
2) Pry the battery off the contacts. Make sure not to break the contacts or bend them too much. Make sure you remember which side of the battery is up. It is easiest to use a soldering iron, but i used a razor blade and pliers.
3) put a new battery in. They can usually be found at stores that sell cell batteries and cost around 3-5 dollars for a pack of two. Look on the old battery to see what kind it is.
4) Tape the battery securely to the contacts.
5) Screw the cartridge back together and your game should save!

∙ 14y agoThis is because your battery has run dry, this is happening to most games, you could take it to any games store, or a clock store will have the battery required) and they will fix it.

∙ 14y agoBecause the internal battery died. Happened to mine too. Curiously enough, it only happens to Silver versions, and not Gold or Crystal. Doesn't happen to 1st generation Pokemon games either, despite them being older.

∙ 13y agoIf you have just restarted the game, the it will not save. To make it save, turn off your ds, turn it back on and when it get's to the screen when it say's Press Start, Press Up Select then B, and then delete all of it so you can start again.

Even though you saved the game Pokemon silver and gold have a special clock battery in the game pak in all copies of the game they are dry meaning your unable to save your progress even though its says in the game Silver saved the game or whatever you put as your name.
