I don't think so; though he does have a limited range.

When properly cast and utilized by a good director his performances have been decent, with a few very good performances.

Something that many people do not realize is that he is multiracial and multicultural, his mannerisms and behavior are slightly eccentric and this leads some people to misinterpret his acting ability because he carries himself and presents his persona in sometimes unexpected ways.

Keanu Reeves was born in Lebanon. He is one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Hawaiian, half-English, and a Canadian citizen. He's also a Buddhist with a profound sense of calm.

To some Americans they may interpret his behavior as a bit stand offish, some of his performances have been criticized as 'wooden'; but based on interviews with cast, crew and friends he is actually just a very deep spiritual person and his reserved persona onscreen does not always show case whats really going on inside.

Personally I have enjoyed all of his performances; even in some of the more lackluster of films he has been a part of.

Ultimately, given that some of his movies have done really well, I believe its simply a matter of proper casting, there are some parts he is really good for, and others where his behavior and mannerisms may not fit with American expectations for the role.
