I would say she's famous for a few reasons. First of all, Marilyn was one of the most popular actresses of her time. She starred in many Classic Movies like "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" and "Some Like it Hot." She was a great comedic actress and these films remain relevant and display her talent. She won a few Golden Globes. AFI named her the sixth greatest movie star of all time. In short, she is and was a superstar. Marilyn is also a sex symbol. She is known for her beauty and sexiness, and remains a pin-up girl on many people's (male and female) walls. She is especially known for being one of the most beautiful blondes to have ever lived. Unfortunately, she is also known as the quintessential "dumb blonde," a stereotype she wished to erase. She also represents a certain era in history, that of the old Hollywood glamour. Further, Marilyn was well known for scandals and personal troubles. She had a difficult childhood, was married three times, posed nude, potentially had affairs with the Kennedy brothers, depended on alcohol and pills, was a diva, etc. Her charmed life and tragic death from a pill overdose (possibly a suicide) remains a bittersweet story that people love to hear.
See Marilyn Monroe was one of a kind, to have height, smile, looks and an acting skill all do not get. These types come like a wind. Once in a blue moon.So she was mmvery much a legend. Talked about even after fifty years after her death.
She was famous because she was a good singer and a good actress Also she was the sex symbol back in the day. Even though she isn't alive, there are many people who are still fans of her today. Young and old people.
Because of her Acting , singing and modelling
She was an American actress, model, & singer, who became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of commercially successful motion pictures during the 1950s & early 1960s.

Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe were definitely not related, although they had a 'relationship'. At the Einstein Conference in 2004 at the Aspen Institute, a presenter stood in front of a huge screen projection of Monroe and spoke of their intimate relationship. "In Shelly Winters' autobiography, she wrote of when she and Marilyn were young, struggling actresses new to Hollywood, they shared an apartment. When they sat around and talked about what famous man they would like to 'be with', Marilyn said, 'Albert Einstein'. There are a few letters between the two that still exist and are housed with the Einstein Papers at Hebrew University in Israel. Marilyn is quoted as saying, 'He was the most energetic man I've ever been with!'" Many other Einstein scholars have documented how he publicly stated that he was a BIG fan of Marilyn Monroe!- Brad Watson, Miami, FL
Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926. That means she would have been celebrating her 87th bithday this year, had she lived. Interestingly, she would have been younger that Lauren Bacall, who is still alive and celebrates her 89th birthday this year.
It wasn't her idea (Norma Jeane Baker Mortenson), it was her studio's (Twentieth Century-Fox); they said her last name (Mortenson) was difficult to know how to pronounce, so she settled on her grandmother's maiden name, Monroe, but that was awkward with Norma Jeane so it was suggested that she be named after a 20s Broadway star who was called Marilyn- Thus, Marilyn Monroe was born.
Marilyn Monroe is still to this day one of the MOST gorgeous women in the world. RIP
