He was not in the book. Vlad Tepes was a prince in Romania in the 1400s. Bram Stoker adopted the prince into a different adaptation to create a remorse tale about a vampire who was a count in Translyvania Romania. He wasn't in the book, he just contributed to the tale that Bram Stoker created.

Vlad the Impaler was a famous warrior, famous for impaling his enemies onto stakes and inspiring Dracula. He died in battle at the age of 45, although his exact cause of death is anyone's guess.
Vlad the Impalor got his name from the fact that he would impale his enemies on large spikes through the anus if it was a male, or if an adulterous women, through the vagina. He committed other cruel and violent acts, but he is most famous for his impalement's, he killed a grand total of about 40, 000 people in his life time. Most of these people were impaled.
