For multiple reasons. When you think of My Little Pony, you may think of the 80s cartoon created for little girls. Well, in 2010, it was re-created, as a new thing. This generation (generation 4) is called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. That is the Mlp that is the popular one.
It all started with Lauren Faust. She was hired as the one to be in charge. She previously had worked on shows like The Power Puff Girls, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. She was wanting to make her own shows, for little girls, but was refused a lot, since those kind of things don't last very long. Well when she was given the opportunity to work on mlp, she wanted to prove them wrong. So although, creating it for little girls, she made it in a way that would also target parents. Reasoning for that, was also because Hasbro wanted the show to basically be advertisement for their toys. Well, due to a fast-past schedule, she needed help, so she hired others to help, such as Martin Ansolobehere, and Paul Rudish, who helped her on past shows. Rudish came up with the idea that ponies control weather, and even Nightmare Moon, for examples. She also got help from Dave Dunnet, and Lynne Naylor to come up with some settings designs.
When everything was ready, they gave the pitch bible (which was what Faust had to present to Hasbro) to DHX Media (AKA Studio B), who specialised in animating with Adobe Flash. Which made My Little Pony, one of the first animated Cartoons to be animated in such a way. Jayson Thiessen was the director for that.
So now that the well experienced team was ready, they hired voice actors. All were very good. The cast included Tara Strong, who has played many voices before. Maybe best know as Timmy Turner from the Fairy Odd Parents.
Now, basically all this, is what made the show to get so strong. It had genius writers, who made fun plots worth watching. Animation is really good, and loved by many. The actors are easy to relate to. And there are many other good things. William Kevin (makes background music) and Daniel Ingram (lyrical songs) are genius composers. Daniel has won awards for the songs he wrote. And they will get stuck in your head for a long time. He makes them, so even an older audience can actally listen to them, and like them.
Because of all this, the show has attracted an unexpected group known as bronies, or male fans of the show, from about the ages of 13-30. They have been very suportive of the show in many ways. And because of that, Hasbro saw that they could now put things in the show, for fun, that were made for the older people. there are easter eggs all over in the show. Some boos jokes, famous people hidden in it, puns, even The Big Lebowski was in the show before.
Over all, there is so much, I could say for the show, on what makes it so good. But you know what, why don't you give it a chance. Just see for yourself. Maybe you'll actually like it. Then you can see, and say for yourself what is so good about it.
