Figure out why they won't have an egg. Some Pokemon can't have eggs. If they're the same species, then they need to be of opposite genders. Some Pokemon like the legendaries are genderless, and hence cannot create eggs. The same goes for two Dittos. Baby Pokemon, like Pichu, Magby, Elekid, etc., can't lay eggs either. Just be sure the Pokemon are of the same egg group and opposite genders (or just check that they aren't genderless/baby Pokemon if you're using a Ditto as the alternative mate).
1.You need a boy and girl.
2.You need to place them into a daycare center.
3.You should use a ditto.
4.if its a legendary you wont be able to get an egg.
5. Note that some pokemon can not produce eggs.
If you're playing Diamond, Pearl or Platinum, you can check the Pokétch app. Matchup Checker.
Make sure the Pokemon have genders and are opposite.
They also have to be in the same egg group.
