There are several good international lists. The International Union of Conservation for Nature, also known as the IUCN Red List. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, or CITES. The US Fish and Wildlife (US FWS) Endangered Species List, is another good list that is fairly complete internationally. ∙ 15y agoThere are different lists made maintane a count, help endangered species, and enforce the laws enacted to protect them. There is the Endangered Species List, handled by two govermental groups. One is the Fish and Wildlife Services, and the other is the National Marine Fisheries Service. The original Endangered Species Preservation Act was in 1966 in the US. It has been updated and molded into what it is today. There is the IUCN's Red list, it is the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. This is world wide and the IUCN maintanes the RedList, out of 1.5 millon species, (their figures) they list the endangered, they have five different levels of threat and those species are re-evaluated every five years, for their status of threat and degree. In species with high amounts of genetic diversity, a disease may destroy a section of the population, but many individuals will be resistant to the disease.

integrated pest management is a process where people or organisations such as in New Zealand where DoC (department of Conservation) take measures to ensure the safety and survival of native or endemic species. These species can be put in jeopardy when introduced pest species put pressures on their survival. E.g. Introduced Stoats are predators to Kiwi in New Zealand rendering them a critically endangered species. Pests are sometimes not introduced but simply become so through massive reproductive success periods. Integrated pest management serves to aim to reduce the amount of pests in areas where repercussions of their effects are felt.
