Yes, yes you can. But the only thing is, you have to be travelling at a rate of 17,500 miles per hour to get out of the earth's gravitational pull. This speed cannot be reached without rocket or jet assisted take-off. Or light speed but we can't control that yet. :}

escape velocity if its leaving earths gravity

Can you escape gravity by going above the earths atmosphere?

No. To even reduce it by 75% you must travel out to 4000 miles.

How do astronauts travel in space and escape earths atmosphere?

Astronauts travel in space and escape earth's atmosphere by wearing gravity resistant suits and traveling to outer space in a space shuttle that is insulated against the elements.

Can the shuttle escape the earths atmosphere?

No it can't.

Why are rockets for deep space travel so huge?

they have to pass some forces in the earths atmosphere They have to overcome the force of gravity, lifting the rocket and all of the fuel to an escape orbit.

What speed must a space shuttle get to escape earth's orbit?

A spacecraft travelling at approximately 25,000 miles per hour can escape Earth's orbit. This speed is known as the escape velocity and allows the spacecraft to overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth.

Do meteorites have atmosphere?

No. Any atmosphere would quickly escape into space, due to the low gravity.

Can a Boeing 747 fly into a black hole at the edge of your universe?

No. It cannot escape the Earths gravity.

Why is Jupiter the hardest planet to take off from if your in a spaceship?

Jupiter's strong gravity and immense size make it difficult for a spaceship to achieve escape velocity needed to overcome its gravitational pull. Additionally, Jupiter's thick atmosphere creates drag that further hinders spacecraft from leaving its orbit.

Which layer do light gases escape earths gravity?

Earth's lighter gases such as Hydrogen and Helium will rise to the top of the atmosphere. Since they are very light, they will easily be knocked awry by the solar wind, the stream of charged particles coming from the Sun.

What is stronger than earths gravity?

The gravity of a black hole is stronger than Earth's gravity. Black holes have such a strong gravitational pull that not even light can escape from them.

Why can helium escape earths atmosphere?

The helium atom does not form a diatomic molecule, unlike the main components of the atmosphere, nitrogen and oxygen, and it is a very light atom, actually the second lightest of all atoms (second only to hydrogen) and it is gravity which holds our atmosphere in place on the surface of the Earth, so the lighter the particle, the more easily it can escape into space.
