Divergent evolution creates the divergence of a single species by isolating the gene pools of each species thereby increasing the differences between the population and eventually species. Divergent evolution is the evolution of different species from a common ancestor (and hence common characteristics) to attain new, dissimilar characteristics.

Convergent evolution works on a different level. Unlike divergent evolution, convergent evolution does not create species with similar derived characteristics. Convergent evolution involves the adaptation of several different, unrelated organisms to the same environment in the same way. For example, flies and birds are not immediately related yet they both cope with getting around by flying with wings- similar structures that are not derived from one and other. Convergent evolution does not create new species, unlike divergent evolution.

Convergent evolution is the co-evolution of different species with different ancestors in such a way that they attain the same characteristics independently of each other.

Why is DNA the weakest evidence of evolution?

Actually, it is the strongest evidence for evolution. Without one fossil we would know from the DNA evidence that evolution has occurred and is occurring. It is in the DNA of organisms that we see the strongest evidence for common ancestry. The products of those genes are sometimes highly conserved down the ages. Ribosomes, the workbenches on which proteins are made, differ hardly at at between you and pets.

Evaluate the significance of mutations to the process of biological evolution?

Answer 1A.Many mutations do produce changes in phenotype, however. Some can affect an organism’s fitness, or its ability to survive and reproduce in its environment.Answer 2Mutations are an important component of reproductive variation in general. Reproductive variation, the effects that causes siblings to differ both from one another as well as from the parents, is the phenomenon that makes evolution possible.

The transfer of heat by means of rays?

Radiation is the means of heat conduction through electromagnetic (EM) waves. These waves are known as Thermal radiation and differ from other EM waves as Radio waves, Microwaves etc. The other two methods of heat transfer are Conduction and Convection where both require a medium (such as air, water etc.) for the transfer to take place.

How does radiation differ from conduction?

Take two colour cloth. one must be light & the other must be dark.Keep the clothes under the sunlight. You will notice that the light colour cloth will be cool compared to the dark cloth. this is called radiation. take a pan with full of water & heat it. After some time put a steel spoon inside the pan & leave it for a couple of min. you will notice that the spoon will also be hot. this is called conduction.

What is the process of adapted radiation?

"Adaptive radiation is the evolution of ecological and phenotypic diversity within a rapidly multiplying lineage. It involves the differentiation of a single ancestor into an array of species that inhabit a variety of environments and that differ in the morphological and physiological traits used to exploit those environments."--Dolph Schlueter, The Ecology of Adaptive Radiation,Oxford University Press, p.10

How do you Rational and Adaptive expectations differ?

Adaptive expectations: assumes peoples' behaviour is totally correlated to past behaviour. History is the dominant factor in choice. Rational expectations: assumes people's behaviour is mostly correlated to acquisition and use of any information about the choice at hand. Rationality is the dominant factor in choice.

What are the alternatives to evolution and how do they differ from the theory of evolution?

The main alternatives to evolution are creationism and intelligent design. Creationism posits that a divine creator is responsible for the origin of life and species, while intelligent design suggests that certain features of living organisms are best explained by an intelligent cause rather than natural selection. These alternatives differ from the theory of evolution in that they do not rely on the scientific principles of natural selection and genetic variation to explain the diversity of life on Earth.
