When you put your feet down and then touch the car when you get off, you will get a shock as your finger or hand almost touches the metal part of the car because you are grounded.

The spark that jumps from the metal to your hand gives you the shock.

The trick is to hold onto the metal part of a car and then get in. This way you won't be shocked because the electricity will flow over your body.

How static electricity affect the world?

Many things, common practical uses are; Paint spraying cars: the paint particles are given a negative charge, and the car frame is given a positive charge, so the paint sprays out, and sicks to the car, and is attracted to all the hard- to reach areas Electrosatic precipitator; in coal fired power station theses are used to stop the dust particles reaching the atmosphere. Particles of ass pass through a charged grid, and becone charged. They then stick to plated either side of this grid, where they can be disposed of safely Photocopier; A charged drum is in the photocopier. Light is then shone through the paper, and whete ther is no print light hits the drum and it looses its charge. This leaves charge where there needs to be ink. Ink is the pulled onto the charged drum, and transfered onto paper Antistatic floors; to avoid static charges in hospital, the floors are made out of an antistatic material, so no charge can build up.

What are some Current uses of biomass?

Biomass can be used to generate electricity and to fuel our cars. Biomass generates electricity when the biogas is burned and this turns a turbine or a generator creating electricity. It fuels our cars by turning corn into ethanol for our cars. Hopefully this helps...:D

How does science play a role in your everyday?

TV, Radio, Computers, Cars, Telephone, Electricity, none of these would be possible without science.

What are several types of energy people use everyday?

Mostly electricity. Electricity includes: Phones, lights, computers, video game consoles, vacuums, fans etc... Also machinery: Cars, bikes, go - karts, washers/dryers etc... all require types of energy used daily.

How is science and technology is important to your lives?

without science and technology, we would still be hunter-gatherers working hard for a living, and there would be no such things as cars, electricity, cities, computers, the internet, etc.

What causes static electricty?

Static electricity is a build up of electrons that are rubbed off by things rubbing against each other. Static electricity is a problem on dry days with low humidity. Even the wind rubbing on cars can build up static electricity, a comb or balloon rubbed against clean hair builds up static electricity and of course lightening is a discharge of static electricity from the clouds to the Earth.

What are some ways you use static electricity?

Photo Copy machines use static electricity to get the ink in the places where it needs to be copied. There's an artist that uses static electricity to fly the different paint onto the paper. They also use static electricity to paint cars. (True enough, I got the artist thing from Bill Nye The Science Guy)

How do cars get painted with static electricity?

....positive charge on paint, negative charge on the product. Very specialized equipment and techniques.

How is static electricity used when spraying crops with insecticide?

Static electricity is a charge built up by a range of actions like rubbing a polythene rod against a duster, we can see the effects by rubbing a balloon against our hair and the negatives will move to the balloon but will not move this is what makes static electricity different to the normal electricity in our houses, cars and other electrical items. Static electricity and paint… static electricity can be used by mechanics to respray cars this can be done by charging the paint negative and the car positive and the paint will arc towards it when doing this to a bike it is unnecessary to turn the bike around as the paint will coat both sides. its the same thing one thing is charged positive and the other negative sothey will attract! hope this helps

Your car door shocks you when you touch it?

It's called static electricity. The 12 volt system in cars and trucks are not enough to shock someone. Even 24 volt systems found in buses and heavy trucks are not enough to feel. So it has to be static electricity somehow.

Is static electricity a source of energy?

Yes, it can. The "normal" static electricity we usually encounter isn't lethal. If we shuffle across a rug on a dry day, we can get a nasty zap! when we reach for the door knob. But note that lightning is static electricity, and it can kill or disable individuals with ridiculous ease.

What is electricity for cars called?

Electricity

Can electricity be used to run cars?

yes electricity can be used in cars & vehicles

What is the strip that hangs off some cars?

What you are seeing is a "Anti static strip" . the strip peridiocally touches the road discharging any built up static electricity. Main reason for the strip is to help prevent car sickness, secondary reason is, the possibility of static spark when fueling is reduced/eliminated.

How would the conversion of all cars going electric affect the carbon cycle?

It could not be done, the world can not produce that much electricity.

How does geothermal energy affect transportation?

Geothermal energy produces clean renewable electricity which can run electric cars, buses and trains.
