Dalton said atoms are the fundamental particles of all mater. They are tiny, indestructible, and can combine with other atoms. He though that atoms were solid little balls that couldn't be broken into smaller parts.

Dalton found that substances always combine in the same way because the atoms in a substance were always the same. He also found out that atoms seemed to combine in small whole number ratios.

J.J.Thomson conducted experiments that led him to believe that there were negative charged particles inside the atom and that these particles were part of every atom( electron) The model of the atom changed and it looked like a positively charged ball stuck full of small negative balls know as the plum pudding model.

Ernest Rutherford conducted experiment s that led him to believe that there was a center of positive charge rather than positive charges spread throughout the atom. He also conducted that atoms contained one proton for each electron and believed that electrons circled a ball of tightly packed protons called the nucleus.

Niels Bohr later model shows electrons traveling only in particular paths with certain particular energies and no energies in between.
