I am doing a roundtable project where we have to pretend newton and darwin live in the same time. How would newton react to darwin's theory of evolution and what type of things would they argue/debate over?
Darwin's theory was accepted,at first Darwin himself did not publish his findings as he did not feel anybody else would agree with his findings but once he found that a fellow scientist had conducted the same research and was going to publish his findings Darwin then also decided that he would publish his findings also.

If the hypothesis can explain the data, make successful predictions and is not contradicted by reliable evidence we would call it a theory. For example, Newton's theory of gravity was formed to explain what the relationship between mass, distance and gravity is; after much testing and examination, it was found to hold true (at least for speeds not approaching that of light). Laws are mathematical relationships derived from theories. For example, Newton's law of gravity expresses Newton's theory of gravity in a formula using the required variables as Fg = GMm/d2.

None that match the experimental evidence or that carry any logical weight. The Big Bang Theory is as rigorously tested science as Newton's Theory of Universal Gravitation.

That would be the case of God versus Darwins theory of evolution by natural selection. The church (one of the many churches of north America, I forget which one) petitioned its local state to ban the teaching of Darwins theory to school children on the grounds that it was against the teachings of the bible. The law was passed but some teachers fought against it. Hopefully someone can expand on this answer, as I am unsure of names / dates, etc.

Isaac Newton lived before the big bang theory was proposed; it was developed in the 20th century by scientists such as Georges Lemaitre and Edwin Hubble. Therefore, there is no record of Newton's thoughts on the big bang theory as it did not exist during his lifetime.
