This question is all about kinetic energy.

Kinetic Energy = 0.5 * mass * velocity^2

Firstly we must assume that no energy is lost to heat and sound, so that kinetic energy is constant throughout the contact.

The initial kinetic energy is all in the 2kg metal ball. Using the above formula we find that the energy is 0.5 * 2 * 3^2 = 0.5 * 2 * 9 = 9 J

The final kinetic energy must be the same (because of our assumption). The metal ball has a kinetic energy of 0.5 * 2 * 1^2 = 1 J, so the wooden ball must have the remainder, which is 8 J.

8 = 0.5 * 1 * velocity^2

velocity^2 = 16

velocity = square root of 16

velocity = 4 m/s

If a 2kg metal ball hits a 1kg wooden ball at the speed of 3ms and the metal ball continues at a speed of 1ms what is the momentum of the metal ball?

Since momentum equals mass times velocity, the metal ball's momentum is 2N/s (Newton seconds).

Will a ball go further if hit by a wooden bat or a metal bat?

A metal bat will hit the hardest because metal is 85% stronger than a wooden bat.

Does a baseball go farther with a wooden bat then an aluminum bat?

metal is actually harder and that is the reason the MLB does not use metal bats because they propel the ball at a significantly faster speed. - Clay

A falling object that has reached its terminal speed continues to gain what?

A falling object that has reached its terminal speed no longer accelerates due to air resistance balancing the gravitational force. At terminal speed, the object continues to fall with a constant velocity and no longer gains speed.

Why diamond is the hardest metal?

Hardest metal is diamond because wayyy back when they decided to do test. They take car of diamond and ran it to a metal wall at the speed of light. The brick wall dissolved. Then they took a metal car and ran it into diamond wall at speed of light. Car dissolved. They then took speed of light car and drove it into wall made of metal at the speed of diamond. The earth shook but everything dissolved. Then they took diamond wall and drove it into a speed of metal wall and created muffin. This concluded that diamond is the hardest metal
