The first answer was :- i believe it is no because the microwave uses radiation waves to cook, either way microwave food is already gas pre-cooked.....

My answer is :-The above answer is a common error although I simply can't understand why because Microwaves are a type of radio wave and are an electromagnetic wave...they are NOT a type of radiation but are wave like oscillations of electric and magnetic fields.

The microwaves used to heat food in microwave ovens work by heating the water in foods at a frequency to optimally heats water molecules. The microwave energy is converted into heat energy of the water molecules, which in turn heat the other molecules in the food. You can not cook dry foods such as rice and pasta without water.

Are microwave cooked foods dangerous?

Not at all. Food cooked in the microwave does not contain any microwave radiation. However, you could burn your mouth if, for example, you heat a danish in the microwave and bite into it too soon as the bready outer part can seem cool enough to eat while the filling is still dangerously hot. But on the other hand microwave use the same wave lengths as xrays and such and could possibly harm you depending on the age of the microwave.

Are Hydrogenated food products are healthier than those that are not hydrogenated?

no

Is a oven electromagnet energy?

Most ovens do involve electromagnetic energy. Microwave ovens are the best example because they work by deliberate creation of radio-type radiation similar to the radiation from a radar antenna or dish. It is in the VHF (very high frequency) wavelength ( about 50cm). Microwave radiation excites the water molecules in the food in the oven. Ony food which contains water will be heated. An electric oven has red-hot elements which heat things in two ways. The air near the hot elements is heated by conduction and the the hot air then moves to the items to be cooked and passes the heat on to them also by conduction. The other way is by electromagnetic radiation, but not by VHF radio-like waves. The heat radiation from hot elements is electromagnetic, but the wavelength is much shorter. It is just a little longer than visible red light's wavelength which less than one millionth of a millimetre. It is called infra-red radiation. This heat heats the food in the oven in just the same way as the sun warms your skin when you stand in direct sunlight.

What are the dangers of microwave radiation?

In general, microwaves are harmful if they are very powerful and concentrated. All of our ordinary microwave-emitting devices are perfectly safe to use because they are very low power. A microwave oven doesn't release enough of the energy to cause harm when the door is properly closed - hence, a microwave that functions with a door open could be potentially harmful. Very powerful microwaves are harmful because they cause burns. Microwave radiation, despite popular claims, does not cause cancer or any other illness associated with exposure to ionizing radiation. Microwaves from cell phones, for example, are not powerful and concentrated enough to cause harm. In themselves, other than high power exposure - several kilowatts - that's many more times than what is inside an operating microwave oven, microwaves are not dangerous. However, injuries can occur from overheated foods - burns, scalds, eruptions and fires.

Why does a pressure cooker save cooking time and saves on fuel or electricity and what are the principles involved?

The boiling point of a liquid rises when it is subjected to high pressure. So, the food in a pressure cooker is exposed to water (or steam) at a higher temperature than in an open pan. The food, therefore, cooks quicker and so saves on fuel.A pressure cooker does not save cooling time. In fact, because the food is cooked at a higher temperature it has more cooling to do and that will take longer.

Meringue should be cooked in less than two minutes in the microwave. See attached link.

Is healthier food really good for you?

Depends on what you consider "healthier." Oatmeal is healthier than your typical cereal coated in sugar, but cereal in itself is still healthier than fried chicken. In general, healthier food is better for you because it is the better choice.
