How hard they are. And if they are from Canada or the USA.
a chimney sweep should be preformed after the burning of 1 to 1 1/2 face cord of well dried hard wood more often if you use a wood which is not properly dried or a soft wood I have an Older wood stove, I burn soft wood, I use Rutland creosote remover, and I sweep mine at least once a month
soft wood is used for tables which can be used as coffee tables or dining room tables soft wood is used for doors can be used for any type of doors. Mainly interial doors.
There are many different types of wood, these are the ones I work with and could think of...CedarEastern Red CedarBirchMapleWalnutBlack WalnutAshPineFirLemon WoodOakRED BALLSThat is all that I could think of right now...but as the person said before me there is plywood which is actually just large sheets of other types of wood...and there is particle board which is just a man-made board...In addition these types of wood come in different cuts & forms...If you are planning on building something out of wood I suggest that you look up more on the type of wood that you are going to use, this is because different woods vary in how hard or soft they are (i.e. Eastern Red Cedar is a very soft wood, while Ash is a fairly hard wood)...Lastly if anyone know more about this topic than what I have stated please add your input...
