There isn't a spring solstice!

There is a summer solstice, when daylight is longest (i.e. there is the longest interval between sunrise and sunset). In the northern hemisphere this falls on July 21 or 22 (it varies, depending how recently was the last leap year), and in the Southern Hemisphere on December 21 or 22.

The winter solstice, when daylight is shortest, is on December 21 or 22 north of the equator, and July 21 or 22 in the south.

The mid-point between two solstices is called an equinox. The name means that there is the same interval between sunrise and sunset as there is between sunset and the following sunrise. There is one equinox in spring, one in fall (autumn). The dates are March 21 or 22 (spring equinox in the northern hemisphere, fall in the south) and September 21 or 22 (fall equinox in the north, spring in the south).

==============================

The summer solstice in the northern hemisphere falls on or about June 21 (not July 21 or 22).

The winter solstice south on the equator is on June 21 (not July 21 or 22).

How much shorter does each day get?

Each day gets shorter by about 1 to 2 minutes as we approach the winter solstice in December. This phenomenon occurs due to the tilt of the Earth's axis and its elliptical orbit around the Sun. After the solstice, days gradually begin to lengthen again until the summer solstice in June. The exact duration of shortening varies throughout the year and depends on your geographical location.

What temperature would it be in Houston when the earth tilt is 0 degrees?

The Earth's tilt is constant (over time scales we're concerned with) at 23.45 degrees. Its declination is what changes, ranging from -23.45 at the winter solstice to 23.45 at the summer solstice. 0 degrees would then be its declination at each equinox. You can then find Houston's average temperature at these times easily enough.

When is the September equinox and what happens?

Far from being an arbitrary indicator of the changing seasons, March 20 (March 21 in some years) is significant for astronomical reasons. On March 20, 2008, at precisely 1:48 A.M. EDT (March 20, 05:48 Universal Time), the Sun will cross directly over the Earth's equator. This moment is known as the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. For the Southern Hemisphere, this is the moment of the autumnal equinox.This also happens on September 22/23The days and nights are of equal length

What is the name of the day when there are the most daylight hours?

Ideally, the summer solstice is the day with the most sun. It's either June 20th or June 21st. It depends on the year, and what the government decides to publish it as. I've seen it vary a few times, but I've mostly seen it as the 21st.

Can you give me a sentence for solistice?

"Solistice is how one would spell 'solstice' if slightly intoxicated."
