People will often read a scientist or someone say something like, "a heart cell is a highly organized structure." What this means is that there are many different components working together in the cell in a very intricate, precise way. An analogy is needed here. Since it just became 9/11 (9/11/08 at 12:02am) -- right now the twin towers are still being rebuilt in lower Manhattan. Now, to building a giant, new building requires tons of steel, concrete, glass, cables, wires, and much more. If I were to take all those things and just throw them into a big pile it would be a highly disorganized structure. It would be a big mess and nothing would work. The building will only function if every steel beam is in the right place and is correctly bolted to its neighboring beam, and if every slab of conrete is poured correctly, and if every last wire in put in place so that every plug, phone, and internet connection will work. The heart cell is the same. If all its parts were just thrown together it would never work; rather, it is highly organized and every part is exactly where it needs to be and is doing the role that is needs to be doing for the heart to work.
