All depends. Are we talking US gallons or UK gallons (they are different). Also, it matters what we are talking about, 40lb of water, molasses or engine oil of a specific gravity. Gallons at one time were different for dry goods and liquids. The US gallon for liquids is 231 cubic inches and was the old UK wine or Queen Anne gallon. The UK gallon was standardized in 1824 so the same value was used for liquids and dry goods. This Imperial gallon was set at 277.42 cubic inches as this was the capacity of exactly 10lb of pure water at 62F. If you want a numeric value for either gallon, see www.footrule.com .
Three scales commonly used for temperature are the Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin scales.Fahrenheit scale - named for Daniel Fahrenheit (1686-1736), who identified a zero point for freezing brine, for water's melting point, and for human body temperature (working with a similar scale by Ole Rømer (1644-1710).Celsius scale (centigrade) - named for Anders Celsius (1701-1744), who created a scaled thermometer later improved by Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778).Kelvin scale - named for British physicist William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin (1824-1907), who pioneered the concept of "absolute zero".On the Fahrenheit scale, water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F. On the Celsius scale (centigrade), water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C. The Kelvin scale uses the same scale as Celsius degrees, but is offset to begin at "absolute zero" (-273.15°C), i.e. water freezes at 273.15°K and boils at 373.15°K.
"Glossopteris (Greek glossa, meaning "tongue", because the leaves were tongue-shaped) is the largest and best-known genus of the extinct order of seed ferns known as Glossopteridales (or in some cases as Arberiales or Dictyopteridiales). Long considered a fern after its discovery in 1824, it was later assigned to the gymnosperms. The genus is placed in the division Pteridospermatophyta. In reality, many of the plant groups included within this division are only distantly related to one another." That was straight out of the Wikipedia article. It explains what glossopteris is (or was), and a fossil of one of these long-gone plants would be what was asked about in the original question.
