Methane CH4 is the simplest organic compound
Added:
Some people think carbon monoxide C=O is also an organic molecule (and why shouldn't it), then this is the simplest, but propyn C2H2 also has lesser atoms in one molecule than methane.
Ch4 (Methane).
Methane (CH4), besides carbon dioxide (CO2) which is (also) called an INorganic compound.
Most chemists would probably choose methane, CH4.
In traditional chemistry we would say a molecule. However modern usage reserves that term for covalent substances, so perhaps 'formula unit' may suffice.

"molecule"
The simplest form for a compound, called the empirical formula, gives the simplest whole-number ratio of the elements in the compound, and may differ from the actual molecular formula. For example, the molecular formula for glucose is C6H12O6. The empirical formula would be CH2O, which can be found by dividing the molecular subscripts by 6.
Kilojoules (kJ) is unit of energy, not a compound.
Any answer possible: mL is a unit of volume, ft is a unit (obsolete) of length.
Not possible to compare. Mile is unit of distance, kg is unit of weight
A formula unit in chemistry is the empirical formulaof any ionic or covalent network solid compound used as an independent entity for stoichiometric calculations. It is the lowest whole number ratio of ions represented in an ionic compound.
The simplest structured unit in a compound is a molecule.
The Smallest unit of an covalent bond is a molecule
Molecule is the simplest unit. Compounds consists a number of Molecules. A molecule has the properties of the compound.
simplest ratio of the ions
Compounds are represented by a formula unit to show the simplest ratio of atoms or ions. This unit repeats throughout any amount of the compound.
formula unit
A chemical combination of two or more elements is called a compound. The simplest unit of a compound is called a molecule (if the atoms are covalently bound) or a formula unit (if the atoms are joined by ionic bonds)
One single molecule of a compound will have all the characteristics of a large amount of the compound. A single sugar molecule will look and taste just like a tablespoonful of sugar.

The empirical formula.
Empirical formula.
A formula unit is the chemical formula for a compound that can be used in balancing a stoichiometric equation. As this is the lowest possible combination of atomic combination, it is a formula unit.
