Only use the information that adds up to a logical hypothesis.
A research instrument is what you use to collect the information in a qualitative field study or observation. It helps you keep track of what you observe and how to report it. It must be both valid and precise.
1.Data are available and accessible. The researcher must be sure that the participants in his investigation posses the needed data and that they are within his reach. So,one must not choose a problem in which the locations of the data are too far away, say foreign lands.2.Data must meet the standards of accuracy, objectivity, and verifiability. The data gathered must be accurate, objective, and not biased, and can be verified when there arises a need, otherwise the result of the study will not be valid and generalizations formulated will be faulty.3.Answers to the specific questions(subproblems) can be found. The data to be collected must supply the necessary answers to the specific questions.4.The hypotheses formulated are testable, that is,they can be accepted or rejected.5.Equipment and instruments for research are available and can give valid and reliable results.

a scientific method is a way scientists answer questions and solve problems and science is the gathering of information. While the above is true in that science certainly must gather information, it's what is done with that information that defines the scientific method. In any scientific endeavor the methodology of the experiment or study must be clearly defined. i.e; I must describe in detail how I intend to work with the information I have gathered, how and what information was gathered, the tools I intend to use, how I will use those tools to manipulate the information, the result I expect of the experiment, and the actual result of the experiment. Note that "information" may be anything from photons of light or the wheel from a truck. The tools I use may be a laser or a tire iron. The procedure I use to manipulate the information with the chosen tools must be very clearly explained in detail. If given the above, and if there are no significant errors in my procedure, you are able to duplicate my results using the same information, tools, and procedures, then we can be reasonably sure, until the same methodology proves different, that we engaged in an experiment using the scientific method. The scientific method allows us to confirm or refute experiments done by ourselves or others. It is indeed the process we use to learn of the world around us in a definitive manner. It may also be said that we may perform different experiments and obtain the same result, utilizing the scientific method. Nothing wrong with that. But if you cannot repeat my results using my method to the letter, there may indeed be an error in the methodology used by one of us. We, or someone else must then attempt to repeat the experiment to determine if either of us was correct.
Provide formal citations for the sources
When providing information about research, you must ensure that your sources are credible and reliable. It's important to present findings accurately and contextually, avoiding misinterpretation or exaggeration of results. Additionally, acknowledging limitations and potential biases in the research enhances transparency and credibility. Finally, proper citation of all sources used is essential to maintain academic integrity.
Information gathered during criminal investigations must be shared with accident investigators

A psychological researcher must debrief human test subjects as soon as the study is completed. Debriefing includes providing participants with information about the study's purpose, addressing any potential misconceptions, and ensuring that participants leave with a full understanding of the research.
You must do your own 'in-depth" research but, below is a link for further information:
In research, you must document the source of all specific information unless it is considered common knowledge. Common knowledge includes widely known facts that are easily verifiable and not attributed to a specific source.
In order to research the process for shipping furniture, you must get on your computer and find a place that offers information on the furniture shipping process.
