I think it is important that the experiment that the person designs only answers the question they are asking because they might do something wrong and get the wrong idea.

A research question should be worth investigating. It should be worth any time, money, and effort used to find the answers. Just because one person feels the need to have a question answered, it does not mean that it is worth investigating. Instead the answers to the research question should make some advances in the field of study.
