From observations or experiments
Seismologists are scientists who study earthquakes and other waves of movement within the earth. One of the primary instruments that seismologists use to gather data is called a seismometer. Modern seismometers record their readings electronically, but older models called seismographs draw out a record of the measurements as the readings are taken. These devices both take continuous measurements of motion within the earth's crust and record not only when it occurs but also the degree of motion that is detected. A seismoscope is a simpler device that records only the fact that an earthquake occurred and sometimes the time that it occurred or a basic reading of its intensity.

a scientist exploring evidence from other fields of science to support findings
They obtain empirical evidence by undertaking research. Research includes doing experiments and running surveys.
They relied more on evidence
Obviously not !
The evidence helps scientists come up with explanations about the natural world
Scientists found evidence in Rodinia in Antartica.
In science, evidence is any result of an experiment done with the scientific method. Evidence and experiments to acquire evidence are methods by which one can scientifically prove a claim.
