The distance in kilometers to the horizon is the square root of (13 X observers height in meters) so for a 1.8 meter person standing on the seashore the horizon is about 5 km away. For someone on a jet at 10,000 meters the horizon is 360 km away.
Wind always blows constantly at seashore. Some times at the banks of big river too wind is blowing constantly. Usually where there is a big open space and large water body, wind's speed at such places will be considerably more. Wind is constantly blowing in the deserts too.
Some things in the environment often inhabited by small plants are rocks. You can find these types of grow-rocks in places such as ponds and lakes, garden, seashore and in the forest. These rocks can be found in marshy areas, in places were there is diannual rains.
The sea floor bends down as a continental plate moves in the direction of the sea floor. Less dense continental materials float over the more basaltic sea floor and sediments - this buoyant force lets the plate rise above the seafloor and push the sea floor down into the crust, following the descending edge of a convection cell in the crust, The area where this happens is called a subduction zone. For a huge example, look at the west coast of North and South America where the Pacific is dragged beneath the continents. The hot rock , like a hot air balloon, rises through the continental crust, pushing it up and making mountains at the edge of the crustal plate. The rock stays so hot that it sometimes is pushed out the top of a mountain where the gases in the liquid rock expand like a soda shooting from a sealed bottle that has been shaken hard and opened suddenly, causing a volcanic eruption. This process is not happening on the eastern coast of these two continents where the seashore goes at a gentle slope into the sea.
Weathering of rocks is caused by chemical and mechanical means, and the types of weathering are therefore generally classified as chemical or mechanical (also known as physical). * Slightly acidic rainwater can react with rock surfaces, dissolving them over time. Rocks can also be affected by organic sources of chemical reactants. (chemical) * Heat from the sun can cause differences in temperature between the surface and the interior of a rock which can cause a loosening of the surface called exfoliation. (mechanical) * Liquid water penetrates cracks in the rocks surface where it can freeze and expand, opening up the cracks for further attack in tandem with acidic rainwater. (mechanical and chemical) * Plant root growth can also cause cracks to further expand, making them more vulnerable to frost expansion and chemical attack. (mechanical) * Underlying rock which is exposed due to erosion of the overlying rock becomes free of the pressure it was previously exposed to, causing the rock to expand and break apart. (mechanical) * Other means of weathering include the expansion of crystallizing salts that have been taken in by a rock surface , expansion due to the absorption of water, and hydraulic action from crashing waves on seashore rock formations.
