As the name indicates it is "periodic" meaning it repeats.
Russian guy called Mendeleev noticed that certain elements have similar properties. We now know this has to do with valance electrons - can't remember if he knew this.
So he set up this grid of elements with similar properties in columns and in increasing order of atomic weight left to right. This gives the table we know and love.
He was actually able to leave blanks for things that we hadn't discovered becasue he was so sure of the pattern he saw emerging.
Other tables exist.

It is called the Periodic Table of Elements.
CO3 is not placed in periodic table. Only elements are arranged in periodic table.
The periodic table.
In the modern day periodic table, the periodic table gets wider in periods two, four, and six.

Periodic table comprises of rows and columns like in an organised manner. Hence, it is called a table.
like as in the periodic table of how it is listed.
The Periodic Table is arranged like it is for a specific reason. It is probably called the Periodic Table because it is made up of "periods" or horizontal rows.
a family of the periodic table is like a group of elements of the same type.
The physical properties are not listed in periodic table. The properties like density is not listed. These can't be found on periodic table.
It is named The PERIODIC TABLE. The periods being the horizontal rows The groups being the vertical columns.
Active metals like Sodium, Calcium, etc. are located on the left side of the periodic table. Transition metals like Iron, Copper, etc. are located in the center of the periodic table.
