Greenland is part of Europe and was until recently a dependancy of Denmark.

Greenland is geographically considered part of the North American continent, and is the world's largest (non-continent) island, with approximately 85% of it covered by ice.

So basically it is not part of a continent. Scientists believe that Greenland was an exposive island which was formed from the volcano in the Artic.
