Best Answer

Taiwan is an MEDC because:

  • Poverty is non-existent
  • It is a democracy
  • It has a tertiary-based economy e.g. high-tech software design
  • Process of sweatshops enables growth and industrialisation e.g. ACER computers were invented here
  • It has a low death rate
  • Proof that it is still in development: the average wage is 10x higher than 40 years ago
  • Land reform in the 1960's encouraged development
  • Deregulated economy
  • University education is now available- a factor that has helped Taiwan develop (it's improvement in the education system)

Taiwan is considered a developed country, or a more economically developed country (MEDC). Its high living standards, advanced technology sector, and well-developed infrastructure contribute to its classification as an MEDC.
