Obviously there are several naturalborders. To the west, near the state of California, you have mountains which impeded movement, thus creating a natural border. Also the two huge oceans beside it also have an impact. The natural borders to the north include trees and forested areas, as well as higher altitude ( not necessarily mountains, but higher than America.) Near the south exists vast deserts, to which communities and cities are isolated to concentrate ( more around Mexico). There are also several large mountains in the states of New Mexico creating more natural borders.
