The cost famous ringing happened on July 8th, 1776. The Liberty Bell is also called the "Independence Bell" or the "Old Yankee's Bell". The bell was ordered in 1745 by the Pennsylvania provincial Assembly for use in the Pennsylvania State house, which is in the city of Philadelphia.
