I don't know what the question is supposed to mean. The US is in North America (except for Hawaii, which is an island). Directly south of (most of) the US is Mexico, which is still in North America. South of North America is the rather unimaginatively named South America. South of that is Antarctica.
So, if the question is "what continents lie directly south, albeit a long way south, of the US", then the answer is "South American and Antarctica".
Two continents that lie west of the US are Asia and Australia.
South America is the only continent directly south of the US.

North America and South America share a land border with the United States.
The shapes of the continents provide evidence of past tectonic activity, such as the splitting of continents through plate tectonics. For example, the fit of the continents' coastlines, like the matching shapes of South America and Africa, suggests they were once joined. This helps us understand the movement of Earth's plates over millions of years.
