No one person found Africa. In fact it is suggested by many scientists that humans actually originate from Africa. Africa is home to some of the oldest known civilizations on Earth as well. However, Africa was not opened to the world until the Europeans conquered it in about the 19th century or so. Of course Africa was known and what not, but no outsider had actually been in the African inland, or the heart of Africa. Europeans set up ports along the coast but this was about as far inland as they went before the 19th century.
