Magellan.
The French explorer who reached the most southern point in America was Ferdinand Magellan in 1520 during his circumnavigation of the globe. Magellan's expedition reached the southern tip of South America, now known as Cape Horn.
Both Ferdinand Magellan and Hernan Cortes were Spanish explorers and conquistadors who played significant roles in the Age of Exploration. They both led expeditions to the Americas in the early 16th century, with Cortes conquering the Aztec Empire in Mexico and Magellan leading the first circumnavigation of the globe.
The belief that the Earth was flat was disproved by new explorations, such as the circumnavigation of the globe by Magellan's expedition in the 16th century. This journey showed that the Earth is round, not flat.
The word for "globe" in French is spelled "globe."
As in 'I have travelled to all parts of the globe', the word is 'terre'. As in 'a ball with the map of the earth on it', the word is 'terrestre'. As in 'an object shaped like a globe' the word is 'sphere'
Magellan's circumnavigation of the earth proved that it is a globe.

Ferdinand Magellan's expedition in 1521 completed the first circumnavigation of the globe. Although Magellan himself was killed in the Philippines during the voyage, his crew continued under the command of Juan Sebastián Elcano. They successfully returned to Spain in 1522, proving that the Earth could be circumnavigated by sea. This expedition fundamentally changed European understanding of the world's geography.
