He was curious. That's how it was discovered, when traders noticed that the trip from US to Europe went faster than the return trip, which would be expected with winds, but then in some areas it became even faster. Eventually it was figured out there was a fast surface current running up the Eastern US and then cutting over to Europe.

Franklin was interested in ocean currents, particularly the Gulf Stream, because of its potential to shorten transatlantic voyage times. By mapping its flow, he hoped to improve navigation and trade routes. His work helped ships take advantage of the current, leading to faster and safer journeys.

Why does the Gulf Stream heat Great Britain?

The Gulf Stream is a current of warm water that has enough warmth left after crossing the Atlantic Ocean to make the climate of the UK mild and wet. If the current ever changed course, and missed the UK entirely, the climate of the UK would change.

How does the circulation of warm water affect climate of some coastal lands?

A warm ocean current (like the Gulf Stream warming Western Europe) can make the climate much milder than it would be without the warm current. Canada, at the same latitude as Britain, is very much colder because it has no Gulf Stream!

Why did Benjamin Franklin do and why did he do what he did?

Because he wanted to change the world. To make it a safer and better place to live. His face is on the hundred dollar bill because of his contributions to the society or, the uh community. He built the lending library, the fire department, the hospital, and many other useful and helpful things. Including the bulkhead, Mapping of the Gulf Stream and other things I don't have time to mention in this. He was born in the early 1700s, on Milk St.
