As you rise in altitude the air decreases in density, denser air can hold more heat energy when it is warmed by the Sun, while lower density air cannot retain as much heat energy.
The difference in the distance from the sun between the highlands and lowlands is relatively miniscule compared to the distance of the Earth to the sun, any difference in energy in that distance is negligible.
Temperature in highlands is lower than that of lowlands because of the higher elevation in highlands. As altitude increases, the air becomes less dense and can hold less heat, resulting in lower temperatures. Additionally, highlands are often exposed to cooler air masses and experience more rapid temperature changes due to factors like wind and cloud cover.
The Scottish Highlands is a region in Scotland that covers most of the northern part of the country, rather than a specific city or town. It is known for its stunning landscapes, rugged terrain, and historic sites.
Land below sea level is exactly that, inland valleys and lowlands that are lower than the sea. In America, many places in California and in particular, Death Valley. In the middle east, the Jordan Valley including sea of Galilee and city of Jericho, the lowest city in the world at around -800 feet
Raised areas of land that are lower than mountains are called hills. Hills are typically lower in elevation than mountains and can be found in many different landscapes around the world.
They really shouldn't be used for anything other than wetland habitat for wildlife, because that's all that's its best for particularly during really wet periods or at spring flush.
the highlands of scotland are a more remote region, the mountainous terrain, infertile soils, harsher climate and more barren landscape make it a less desirable place to live, not to mention it is harder to settle (roads are harder to build etc) The east coast on the other hand is flat, fertile and has the oil capital of europe there also. You will find that the central lowlands (glasgow, edinburgh) etc are the most populated because it would be easier to cultivate, build roads etc thus more people lived there, the same can be said of the east coast, and the coastal areas near inverness. The same is true of America where the flat lowlands of the east/central areas are much more populated than the west side of america (with the exception of the flat coastal strip running from washington, through oregon and down through california), not many people live in the mountain states (utah, nevada, colorado, montana etc) hence why the east side of america was settled first as the land was simply....better.
It is colder in the highlands than the lowlands because the higher the elevation, the colder it becomes, and the lower the elevation, the hotter.
the temperature of the earth is lower than the Earth.
If the ignition temperature of a substance is lower than the room temperature where it is, then that substance ignites.
Correct, the temperature at which a substance freezes is lower than the melting point.
Sperm are kept at a lower temperature than the general body temperature.
No. The temperature of dry ice is far lower than that of ice water.
No.
No.
any temperature lower than zero
-5.3oC is 6.5oC lower temperature than 1.2oC
Arkansas is consider to have a temperate climate. It has a higher temperature and humidity in the lowlands than in the mountain areas.
Due to higher altitudes temperature decreases, so only we feel colder in mountains than low lands
