A tile floor reflects sound waves more effectively than a carpeted floor, causing sound to bounce around and echo more in a classroom. The carpet in a library absorbs sound waves, reducing the overall noise level and making it quieter compared to a tiled floor in a classroom.
A tile floor affect sound transmission by making it loud. This is unlike a room that has a carpet which will adsorb sound and thereby reducing noise.
Tile is louder, but cleaner. I have taught with both. The carpet collects dust and debris which can trigger allergies.

Footsteps on a tile floor sound louder than on a carpet floor because hard surfaces do not absorb sound as well as soft surfaces. The sound waves produced by footsteps on tile bounce off the hard surface and create a more resonant and louder noise compared to the sound waves that are absorbed by a carpet.
Yes, a classroom tile floor is generally louder than a carpeted library. Tile surfaces reflect sound more effectively, leading to higher noise levels when footsteps or objects are moved. In contrast, carpet absorbs sound, reducing noise and creating a quieter atmosphere, which is ideal for a library setting. Thus, the materials used in each environment significantly influence the overall sound levels.
A little toy car will generally roll farther on a tile floor than on a carpet. This is because tile surfaces are smoother and provide less friction compared to carpet, which can slow down the car's movement. The difference in surface texture and resistance impacts how far the car can travel.
Get a tile cutter and remove the tile. Strip all the tile off and make sure the underneath surface is clean. Then u install a protective foam pad layer and install the carpet above it.
