No you can't collect from both disability and unemployment at the same time. Disability provides income replacement if you are physically unable to work. Unemployment replaces income for those able to work, but out of work due to job loss.
Unemployment insurance replaces your income if you lose your job.Short term disability insurance protects your income if you become disabled, and are physically unable to work. The two are mutually exclusive, unless your employer lays you off during your disability.
In Iowa, you cannot collect unemployment benefits and long-term disability benefits simultaneously. Unemployment benefits are designed for those who are able and available to work, while long-term disability benefits are for individuals unable to work due to a medical condition. If you are receiving long-term disability, you would typically not qualify for unemployment benefits. It's advisable to consult with a local unemployment office or legal expert for specific situations.
Only if you weren't qualified for either one of them.
AnswerThere's always unemployment insurance. For CA see the link below. If the query is in regards to Social Security Disability benefits, all necessary information concerning eligibility and filing (including down loadable forms) can be found on the related link below.Another thing to consider is, if you are also going to apply for unemployment benefits. Normally, the unemployment service requires you to be willing and able to seek employment. If you have a disability you're seeking insurance for, it indicates you may not be able to seek work and therefore could be rejected for unemployment benefits
No. I was recently laid off while on disability. The law in Texas says you have to be able to physically be able to work so if you are on disability you can't work. This is NOT correct! Social Security Disability allows you to work even if you are 100% disabled! They limit how much you can earn. (Your unemployment income will NOT reduce your disability payment because SS does not consider it to be employment income!)
Basically you are screwed. I know, because I am currently in that same situation.
Natural Rate of Unemployment -The natural rate of unemployment is unemployment that does not go away on its own even in the long run. -It is the amount of unemployment that the economy normally experiences.Cyclical Unemployment -Cyclical unemployment refers to the year-to-year fluctuations in unemployment around its natural rate. -It is associated with with short-term ups and downs of the business cycle.
no
if on nys unemployment, if sick, should you say no work that week and say workman's comp?
Their should be no problem. I would double check with your insurance company as their may be some variation by company and state. Be well.
In that situation, technically you'd get disability rather than unemployment. The two are often handled through the same agency, though.
