If you check many website (including officia)- then they say US green card holder don't need visa
to visit Dominican Republic. But at small print somewhere - they say that it still
required for some countries like china/India.
eg http://dominican-republic.visahq.com/requirements/India/resident-United_States/
http://www.domrep.org/faqconsular.HTML (official site which is vague)
But on calling (after lots of attempts) DR embassy in Washington - they said it
was not an issue and the website was outdated.
You also don't have to pay tourist card(10$) - if you go by cruise.
