The professor's voice was monotonous. He flat expressions and tone was monotonously delivered. Even the Dean of the College fell asleep trying to listen to his lecture.

I like to do many different things and go many places. I am a high variety person so when my boss puts me on a monotonous. boring task I get very unhappy. I told her to give me variety not the same old thing, one after another, because it is so monotonously sleep inducing.

Remember that monotonously is an adverb. So it must describe an action that is really boring and stupefying. If you look at my first sentence you will notice that in the first sentence I used monotonous because I used it with a noun. It is an adjective in of the professor's voice. In the next sentence monotonously describes the delivery of his words, not his voice.
