Descriptive sentences describe with details. They use adjectives, metaphor and similes to create a picture so we can imagine what we read. The sentences use active verbs.
Standing as tall as a towering pine tree, our new teacher reminded me of a lumberjack. His red hair framed his round face, with black horn rimmedglasses perched halfway down his nose. His eyes darted over the top of the rim, as he surveyedthe class. When he spoke, his voice boomed as if standing near the Grand Canyon. "Good morning, boys and girls!" Then, he smiled with such kindness, like a Santa Claus of the forest.
